My design for QCAD’s collateral for their Creative Arts Open Day.
“representing a diverse and creative community with a non-specific design”
The Queensland College of Art needs a new shirt design every year to represent them for their Creative Arts Open Day, and other various events during the year. The brief is always very open, and centred around representing a diverse and creative community with a non-specific design. The shirt should be able to be worn by all members of QCAD, and not exclude any of the various majors studied at the university. The shirt also acts as an advertisement for QCAD, so it needs to represent our campus as inclusive, socially engaged and rooted in studio-based learning. This year they have introduced name tags and lanyards to the brief, meaning that the design needs to be adaptable and easy to apply to other products.
the design
I created some drawings that featured some artsy symbols but also had some random, non-specific shapes that overall created a fun scene. I chose the Griffith red and white lines so that the design would stand out in front of the black shirt. I feel that this design reflects the diversity and creative culture present at the QCAD campus, whilst also being an interesting design that draws attention.
